In the early '60s, neither Spartanburg High nor Carver had a Junior ROTC program.  Not knowing any better, one might assume JROTC provides an opportunity for students to experience the demands and challenges of leadership. 

 

The front entrance of the gymnasium.  It hasn't changed much since we left in the spring of 1964.  The awning is new, but the place looks about the same.

 

As we knew them, the coaches' offices.  Keep in mind, when our photographer-dude was there school was out, and the clutter you see on the ground had everything to do with the maintenance work going on.

 

Since 1958, when construction began on what was then the new SHS campus, more often than not there have been scenes like this somewhere on the grounds.  Spartanburg High covers a lot of territory.
